Michaela Everett Osehobo, M.Ed., NCC, is a Master’s Level Therapist currently working towards her Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) credential in the state of Georgia, as well as her Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Mercer University in 2017. Afterwards, she obtained her Master of Education in Counselor Education with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Michaela worked as an intern at a local private practice agency in Statesboro, GA, where she received supervision under a Registered Play Therapist. In that setting she worked with individuals of all ages facing depression, anxiety, PTSD, situational stressors, and psychosis. Michaela believes that using a gentle, person-centered approach can aid in helping people become comfortable with the therapeutic process, which will eventually motivate them to initiate changes they want to see in their lives. She believes that the mind is very powerful, and what we say to ourselves can very much influence our thoughts, behaviors, and feelings. She holds a strengths-based perspective and believes that it is important to recognize areas in which we are thriving. She uses many hands-on activities in sessions, as she believes that representing internal feelings in an external way can help facilitate personal understanding.

Prior to her experience at her internship, Michaela completed her practicum at a local high school in Statesboro, GA. She worked with high school students as they discussed feelings of self-worth, depression, concern for the future, and familial stressors. She also worked at Mercer University as a minority mentor, where she was able to both counsel and tutor freshman students as they navigated their first year of college.

Michaela’s favorite quote is “let your smile change the world, but don’t let the world change your smile” (unknown). She believes that every person should feel encouraged to persevere despite hardships they may face. She enjoys helping clients of all ages find their smile again and encourages them to become self-reliant. Michaela is absolutely thrilled to be a member of the Thrive Counseling team and is excited to work with clients as they become the best version of themselves.

Ms. Osehobo works under the Direction of Olivia Prewett-Scott & the Clinical Supervision of Brandy Rogers, LPC, CPCS, RPT-S while at Thrive.
