Alice Kim, M.A., LAPC, NCC is an Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) in the State of Georgia in additional to being a National Certified Counselor (NCC). In addition to these designations, she is also currently pursuing her credential as a Registered Play Therapist. She received her Master of Arts (MA) degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University, and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Georgia State University. During her graduate training, she was exposed to a variety of modalities and theoretical approaches, and completed her internship at Positive Impact Health Centers, Walden Behavioral Care, and Art It Out, where she felt greatly connected to Play and Art Therapy.

Alice’s training as a Mental Health Counselor is focused on building strong therapeutic relationships, providing theory based, empathic, and collaborative treatment, with emphasis on multiculturalism and inclusivity. Additionally, she is an avid musician, meditator, and a believer that art and creative expression have the ability to promote healing and foster well-being. She is fluent in Portuguese and welcomes clients from all ages, genders, sexual orientations, and cultural backgrounds.

Alice has experience working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, disordered eating, grief and loss, situational stress, and is trained in helping clients build self-esteem, self-reliance, coping skills, and confidence. Her theoretical orientation is eclectic including psychodynamic, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused, but most importantly her approach is holistic, and highly based on the needs of the client. Her main goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, empathic space for clients to discuss their experiences, as well as to provide tools for them to live an emotionally healthy, empowered, and manageable life. Ms. Kim works under the Direction of Olivia Prewett-Scott and the Clinical Supervision of E. Amanda Dellinger-Allen, Ed.S., M.S., LPC, NCC, CPCS, RPT-S, CTS, CAMS while at Thrive.
