Ashley Cincinatus, M.S., LAPC, NCC  is an Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) in the state of Georgia in addition to being a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). She is also pursuing her certification as a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). Ashley received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from The University of Georgia and completed her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Capella University in March 2020. During her time as a graduate student, Ashley received specialized training in areas such as trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), motivational interviewing, and family violence intervention. She completed her counseling internship at The Road to Recovery, where she gained experience working with clients who struggle with substance use disorders as well as anger management, parenting difficulties, and other dual diagnoses. In her work as a therapist, Ashley utilizes a range of modalities which includes cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, as well as some person-centered and solution-focused therapy as appropriate for the individual, family, or group. She believes that through these approaches, we can identify current barriers in life and practice implementing more effective skills that will lead to healthier practices. Ashley’s training as a Mental Health Therapist is focused on providing a supportive, open, and nonjudgmental environment to explore and process difficult feelings, stuck points in thinking, and develop increased self-acceptance.  Ashley has experience working with individuals who are dealing with substance abuse, disordered eating, depression, anxiety, trauma, and is trained in helping clients practice mindfulness, increase their positive coping skills, build self-esteem, and learn self-acceptance. Her main goal as a therapist is to partner with her clients and cultivate a compassionate and comfortable atmosphere where they can feel safe. Ashley believes in showing up as authentically as possible, and leverages her vivacious personality to help build warm and lasting connections. She is committed to supporting and challenging her clients to reach their highest goals and potential.. Ashley is super excited to be a part of the Thrive Counseling family and looks forward to joining her clients on their journey of healing, self-care, and rebuilding!
