meet the therapist

Bree Mitchell, MAMFT, LAPC, completed her graduate degree at Richmont Graduate University where she earned a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. Bree has successfully completed the requirements to become both a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) in Georgia. In addition, she has received specialized training in family systems and sex therapy. As a therapist, Bree prioritizes providing her clients with a welcoming and compassionate environment where they can express themselves freely without fear of shame or judgement.

Bree practices from an interpersonal, client centered approach, and believes that at the core of healing and growth is a better understanding of one’s identity, emotions, behaviors, and relationships. Bree emphasizes unconditional acceptance and support in working with her clients, and also recognizes the importance of helping her clients discover tools that can help them get through the parts of life that hurt the most.

Prior to working at Thrive Counseling Center, Bree’s clinical counseling experience includes working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families at Richmont Graduate University’s Hope Counseling Center and at Ridgeview Institute’s inpatient, outpatient, and young adult centers in Atlanta. Bree’s training includes an emphasis on sex therapy, which has allowed her to become well versed in helping those in the LGBTQ+ community and those wishing to explore their sexual orientation/gender identity. Bree’s training also emphasized treating addictions, anxiety disorders, depression, grief, spiritual issues, and family/relationship dynamics. Bree’s hope is to help her client’s get to a place where they may better understand themselves in order to feel less broken and more whole.

Ms. Mitchell works under the Direction of Olivia Prewett-Scott & the Clinical Supervision of Vickie George, LMFT, LPC, CST, NCC, and JoAnna White, Ed.D, LPC, RPT/S, CPCS while at Thrive.
