Karen Michael, M.A., LAPC, NCC is an Associate Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia and a National Certified Counselor. She is also working on her additional certification as a Registered Play Therapist. Karen received her Bachelor of General Studies in Communication, Management and Psychology at the University of Michigan- Dearborn. She earned her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the School for Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Atlanta.

Karen is passionate about serving children and families who are facing challenging or painful life experiences. Karen served as an intern at a Child Advocacy Center in Woodstock. In this role she provided intervention and treatment services to children and families who had experienced sexual abuse and severe physical abuse. In addition, Karen was a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in Fulton County. In this capacity she was a voice for abused and neglected children gathering information and making recommendations to help judges decide what is best for each child.

Karen has a humanistic orientation viewing each client as a unique and special individual who has the capacity for growth and healing. As such she uses a client-centered approach creating a safe and comfortable environment, holding each client in unconditional positive regard, and meeting each client where they are at. She believes that each and every person is capable of the positive change they hope for in their lives and enjoys helping clients discover the tools they already have within themselves to work through any presenting problems.

Ms. Michael works under the direction of Olivia Prewett-Scott and the supervision of E. Amanda Dellinger-Allen, Ed.S., M.S., LPC, NCC, CPCS, RPT-S, CST, CAMS
