Katherine A. Grabowski, M.S., LPC, NCC is a Nationally Certified Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia. She is a graduate of Georgia State University with a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In achieving this degree, she received specialized training in Play Therapy and Traumatology and is on track to become a Registered Play Therapist. Katherine believes in nurturing the innate creativity and resiliency in others and strives to provide individualized care that best suits the needs of each client.

Katherine works with clients of all ages, though specializes in children, teens, and young adults. Her experience working with youth extends beyond a clinical scope and includes an extensive background in childcare, coaching, and parenting. Prior to joining the Thrive team, Katherine completed her graduate internship working for Laurel Heights Hospital, providing individual, family, and group therapy to children and adolescents within a residential treatment setting. In addition to Laurel Heights, Katherine simultaneously worked as a pediatric psychotherapy intern for Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, providing psychological services and family support to children, adolescents, and families both in Aflac’s inpatient unit and outpatient clinic. Katherine specializes in working with a wide variety of presenting concerns, including trauma, self-injury, suicidal/homicidal ideation, PTSD, depression, anxiety, grief, sexual reactivity, severe aggression, chronic illness, and medical adjustment.

Katherine practices from a client-centered perspective and believes in cultivating an empathic, safe, and collaborative environment for clients and their families. By way of play and expressive arts, her goal is to provide clients with a vast array of mediums with which to illustrate their world and persevere through life’s challenges. Katherine firmly believes in the healing power of creative expression and creating opportunities for independence and self-discovery that yield optimal results for overall client growth.
