meet the therapist

Kelley Staley, M.S., NCC is a Masters level therapist and National Certified Counselor currently pursuing her credentialing as an Associate Professional Counselor (APC). She received her Master of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University. Throughout her time in her graduate program, she was able to get her first experience with Play Therapy training and she is enthusiastic about also working towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist to help inform her clinical work with little clients while working at Thrive.

Kelley has experience in a variety of settings with children, adolescents, and young adults. Kelley’s love of this profession was born from her experience working at NYU’s Summer Program for Kids which is an evidence-based therapeutic summer day camp for kids with varying presenting concerns. While pursuing her graduate degree, Kelley had the opportunity to become fully immersed in the counseling field through her internship experience at Art It Out Therapy Center. She gained direct experience with individual clients, co-facilitated weekly social skills groups, and was first introduced to the magic of expressive/creative therapy.

Kelley welcomes clients of all ages from all walks of life and backgrounds. She has experience working with individuals experiencing ADHD, anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, divorce, trauma, family struggles, situational stress and is confident helping clients adopt and build coping skills, social skills, self-esteem, and confidence. Kelley hopes to gain additional experience in other specialties at Thrive and is passionate about continuously learning and growing as a clinician. Kelley draws from a variety of theories in order to tailor therapy to each individual client. She believes that although individuals may have similar stressors and presenting concerns, there is not a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. It is her mission to adopt her client’s perspective and understanding to ensure treatment is developed directly from the unique needs and goals of each client. She believes that the fundamental building blocks for any therapeutic experience is a trusting and collaborative counselor-client relationship. Kelley loves incorporating creative and expressive activities/interventions throughout therapy as she believes creativity has the power to bring awareness, inspire, motivate, and translate what is often so hard to put in words. Kelley strives to create a judgement free, accepting, comfortable, and safe space for each client as she aspires to help, encourage, challenge, learn, and listen with an open heart and mind. She is excited to meet you and embark on this counseling journey with you!

Ms. Staley works under the Direction of Olivia Prewett-Scott and the Clinical Supervision of E. Amanda Dellinger-Allen, Ed.S., M.S., LPC, NCC, CPCS, RPT-S, CTS, CAMS while at Thrive.
