Madeline “Maddie” McGarrah, M.Ed., NCC, completed her graduate degree from the University of Georgia, where she earned a Master of Education degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling in 2019. Maddie has successfully completed the requirements to become a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and is working toward becoming a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT). While at the University of Georgia, Maddie received training to work with a variety of presenting concerns such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem, identity exploration, addiction, and trauma. Maddie’s goal is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental, and collaborative environment for each client so that they can fully succeed in reaching their goals during their time at Thrive and beyond.

Before joining the team at Thrive, Maddie worked as a counseling intern at a Child Advocacy Center where she delivered trauma-focused therapy to children and adolescents. Maddie is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and has specialized training in working with clients who have had traumatic experiences such as abuse, neglect, and domestic violence. Maddie primarily practices using an integrated approach including client-centered, interpersonal, multicultural, and family systems approach to best fit the needs of her clients. Her aim is to meet her clients where they are and to collaborate with and empower her clients to help them get where they want to go.

Maddie believes in recognizing the strengths and resilience of each client and will utilize those qualities to help them find solutions to their presenting concerns. She believes that everyone is capable of making changes and her goal is that every client leaves therapy better equipped to lead happier and healthier lives. Maddie believes there is always hope for healing and growth and is excited to embark on this journey with you!

Ms. McGarrah works under the Direction of Olivia Prewett-Scott & the Clinical Supervision of JoAnna White, Ed.D, LPC, RPT/S, CPCS while at Thrive.
