Monique Hill, M.Ed is a master level therapist currently working on obtaining credentialing as an Associate Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia. In addition, Monique is also pursuing an additional certification as a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). Monique received a Master of Education in Professional Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of West Georgia in 2020. During her matriculation, she received specialized training in play therapy, individual therapy and group therapy while interning at Willowbrooke at Villa Rica’s PHP and the University of West Georgia’s Comprehensive Community Clinic. Her experiences includes counseling clients who experience anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, PTSD, substance abuse, adjustment and behavioral disorders. Most recently, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she interned briefly at Thrive Counseling in order to help support the mental health needs in the Cobb County area.

Monique uses innovative and creative therapeutic techniques while promoting healthy coping skills, grounding techniques, and self-care to assist her clients. She also specializes in using expressive art interventions for both children, teens, and adults. Monique practices from a Cognitive-Behavioral therapy approach whereby she encourages clients to find more useful, adaptive, and practical forms of problem solving. The goal is to challenge and change negative thinking patterns and behaviors while improving emotional regulation, learning coping skills, and having fun while doing so.

Monique is an advocate for at-risk youth and continues to volunteer her services for the CHINS (Child in Need of Services) program weekly at the Department of Juvenile Justice in Carrollton, Georgia. She is also a professional member of the American Counseling Association. Monique’s experiences in counseling have made her a passionate therapist who believes in the power of counseling, it’s ability to heal, and helping clients gain the ability to find their strengths to live a more rewarding life. Monique is excited to be a part of the Thrive family and looking forward to being an influential team player in yours!
